The renewable energies industry in the Hautes-Alpes
The Southern alps’ Hautes-Alpes territory offers you an outstanding environment to develop your project in the renewable energies field. Our agency maintains very close relations with the business and innovation networks in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur and Rhône-Alpes regions, including the “Bois des Hauts-Pays du Buëch” cluster of rural excellence, the “Capenergies” and “Tenerrdis” innovation clusters. We help you enter relationship with them.
Profuse natural resources
- 300 sunny days a year, generating 1,700 KWh/ m²/year, offer ideal siting for solar installations.
- Substantial wood resources (more than 100,000 tons available yearly) in the Hautes-Alpes, available for biomass valorization.
- A considerable hydroelectric energy capacity: 700 million KWh/year, due to Serre-Ponçon lake dam, the largest artificial lake in Europe.
Development projects for renewable energies throughout the territory
The wood-energy industry in the Hautes-Alpes
- 48 wood boilers in activity and 8 projects in process, representing an installed power of 9.7 MW, that is above 30% of total for all projects in the PACA region. (Source: OFME, Dec. 2009).
The Solar industry in the Hautes-Alpes
- Several projects of photovoltaic parks in the South of the Hautes-Alpes (for example within Le Pöet locality, an 8 MW of photovoltaic power plant project occupying 16 ha of land.
- A public consultation of the Hautes-Alpes General Council to develop a solar project sited on about twenty hectares close to the aeronautics premises and the leisure park at Le Chevalet Airfield in Aspres-sur-Buëch.
Hydroelectricity
- First-class Hydroelectric sites : the Serre-Ponçon lake, electric power plants along the Durance river and canal;
Actors throughout the whole value chain
- Forestry, woodcutting, sawmills;
- Fragmented wood and wood brick manufacturers (Le Motty company in Valgaudemar, Chabrand in Queyras, Societé Forestière du Briançonnais in Briançon);
- Study agencies, architects, and consultants;
- Companies specialized in installation and maintenance (solar, wood boilers, geothermal energy, etc.).
