Gap-Tallard Airfield
Gap-Tallard Airfield is located in the Tallard locality in the South of the Hautes-Alpes.
The airfield was created in years 1920, and the Alpine airclub founded in 1930.
It has known an outstanding development since years 1970, due to exceptional aerologic and climatic conditions. More than 100,000 aircraft moves are operated yearly on this site.
For example, parachuting takes advantage of a 300 m high windless air column at the vertical of the airfield, offering ideal conditions for training.
Numerous national teams and international champions come to this airfield for training.
- Around the Air clubhouse, a civilian airfield section groups service providers and airclubs.
- A part called Airpark is an activity park dedicated to air activities, with a taxiway giving direct access to runways.
This airfield possesses a range of air activities unique in Europe.
Gap-Tallard airfield welcomes international events such as, for example, the parachuting world championship in 2003 with over 1,000 competitors from 45 nationalities, or the world air tradeshow in 1999 and 2000.
